General Information 

This pattern contains 2 versions:

Chicane - for DK weight yarns & Chicane Lite for Fingering/4 ply weight yarns.

Chicane (and Chicane Lite) is a boat-neck lacy top with dolman sleeves and tie cord shoulders. A versatile design that is knitted flat and from the top-down as a custom-fit construction. Ideal for many body shapes and yarn types. Options: sew up the shoulders for a classic look, or use contrasting colours for ribbing trims.

Note: This top is designed to fit loose against the body and sit on the upper/high hip (about 5” above the fullest part of your hip). The top is sized according to upper hip measurements. It is best to measure this area first to determine your yarn amount.

Suggested Yarns, Quantity & Tools

Chicane: DK Weight

Suggested yarn: SW Merino DK by Unbelieva-wool (246yds/225m) per 100g, 100% Merino.
For sizes 33” to 38” (84cm to 112cm) at Upper Hip: 4 to 5 skeins.
For sizes 39” to 44” (81cm to 106.5cm) at Upper Hip: 5 to 6 skeins.

Tools: 4.5mm (US 7) and 4mm (US 6) 80cm (32”) long circular needles, stitch markers, waste yarn, measuring tape, yarn needle and a crochet hook (optional).

Chicane Lite: 4ply/fingering weight

MCN 4ply by Old Maiden Aunt Yarns (400yds/366m) per 100g, 80% Merino 10% Cashmere 10% Nylon.
For sizes 33” to 38” (84cm to 112cm) at Upper Hip: 3 skeins.

For sizes 39” to 44” (81cm to 106.5cm) at Upper Hip: 3 to 4 skeins.

Tools: 4mm (US 6) and 3.5mm (US 5) 80cm (32”) long circular needles, stitch markers, waste yarn, measuring tape, yarn needle and a crochet hook (optional).
