Gakusei (pronounced: gak’say) is Japanese for ‘Student’. The design for this cardi was influenced by an old sweater I once had while at Art College (minus the holes and the paint stains!).
It is a loose gauge open cardigan with a relaxed fit. The broad rib pattern gives a flattering shape to the body, while the contrast colour side panels and elbows add that extra touch of visual appeal. It is knitted flat and once seamed together, the sleeves are picked up and worked in the round from the top-down. The collar and front edges are picked up and knitted off the completed piece. As an option, you can add any kind of fasteners to your garment. Wear it open or closed – your choice!
